Business Certificate Options

The Business Management Certificate Options consists of four independent plans of study in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management/Supervision, and Sales. Students may choose to complete any of these individual plans of study to earn a certificate in Business Management with an emphasis in that respective area.

Upon successful completion of the required courses for the four plans of study and two credits of wellness electives, students will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Marketing, Sales and Hospitality Services.

Collegiate DECA members from around the globe gathered in San Francisco, California, from April 5-8, 2025, to participate in the annual International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Seven NDSCS DECA members attended the conference.

NDSCS Business Management students qualified for the international DECA competition

The North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) is proud to announce that a team of students from its business management program recently competed at the 2023 North Dakota Collegiate DECA State Conference held in Fargo. This annual competition brings together some of North Dakota's best and brightest business students from eight different colleges to compete in various business case study events.

The NDSCS team, consisting of thirty-five members, performed exceptionally well with eighteen of them qualifying for the international competition in April in Orlando, Fla.

We are proud to announce the following individuals and their events:

“We are extremely proud of our students as this was, for most, their first experience in a Collegiate DECA competitive event,” said Gregory Anderson, the faculty advisor for NDSCS Collegiate DECA. “These students’ performance is a testament to their dedication and hard work, and is a true reflection of the quality of education that NDSCS provides.”

Four NDSCS students nominated for North Dakota Academic All-State Team

Four students from the North Dakota State College of Science have been nominated for the 2023 North Dakota Academic All-State Team, which recognizes the academic achievements of community college students.

The students, listed with their program of study and their hometown, are:

  • Transfer Pathway Scholars:
    • Lauren Jones, Nursing, West Fargo, N.D.
    • Morgan Vosberg, Liberal Arts – Business Administration, Sartell, Minn.
  • Workforce Pathway Scholars:
    • Logan Mammenga, Business Management, Breckenridge, Minn.
    • Marlee Schweitzer, Dental Hygiene, Aberdeen, S.D.

The All-North Dakota Academic Team is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the Coca-Cola Foundation and is comprised of scholars from each of the community colleges in the state. Workforce Pathway Scholars plan to begin their careers immediately upon graduation, and Transfer Pathway Scholars plan to continue their education at a four-year institution after completing their studies at a community college.

“It is with pride that I am able to nominate these students to the 2023 North Dakota Academic All-State Team. Through their efforts in the classroom, and in leadership roles on campus and in their communities, they have demonstrated the qualities necessary to be successful in the future,” said Jeff Hart, NDSCS Phi Theta Kappa Advisor.

The students will be recognized at an awards luncheon held at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, N.D. Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
