NDSCS to add clay target and esports club teams in fall 2019

North Dakota State College of Science students will have two new co-curricular opportunities when the upcoming academic year begins. The College is adding clay target (trapshooting) and esports teams, which will both begin competition in the 2019-2020 academic year.

NDSCS to begin 117th academic year August 26, 2019

North Dakota State College of Science fall semester classes will begin Monday, August 26 at 4 p.m. for all students in Wahpeton, Fargo and online. Students who are not yet enrolled for fall semester can still do so by contacting the Enrollment Services office at 701-671-2521.

Opening weekend events in Wahpeton will kick off on Saturday, August 24 when residence halls open. New student orientation, an annual series of events designed to help students connect to the College community and establish positive and healthy habits, will take place from August 24-30 and will include outdoor evening activities for new and returning students.

These events will include:

  • August 24, 9 - 11 p.m.: Outdoor Movie on The Oval
  • August 25, 9 p.m. – 12 a.m.: Street Dance in Lot 2 north of Old Main with music provided by a disc jockey
  • August 26, 9 - 11 p.m.: Glow Volleyball and other Glow Games on The Oval with music provided by a disc jockey

NDSCS announces summer 2019 President’s Honor List

The North Dakota State College of Science has named four students from its Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician program to its summer semester 2019 President’s Honor List. The Honor List recognizes students who have achieved grade point averages of 3.5 or higher while taking at least 12 credits with letter grades.

The honorees are:

  • Daniel Domire; Brocket, N.D.
  • Michael Frank; Isabel, S.D.
  • Jayson Knight; Steele, N.D.
  • Dustin Martin; Grand Forks, N.D.

NDSCS Special Populations Program Receives CTE Director's Award of Excellence

The Special Populations program at North Dakota State College of Science was presented the Director’s Award of Excellence during the opening session at the 49th Annual Department of Career and Technical Education Professional Development Conference held at the Bismarck Event Center in Bismarck. The award is an acknowledgement of superior career and technical education programs in North Dakota. Accepting the award was John Richman, President, Harvey Link, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Ken Kompelien, Dean of Arts, Science and Business Division and Maria Kaduc, Department Chair of Academic Services Center and Kara Gruenberg, Suzanne Hagelstrom, Traci Eklund, Larissa Gilbertson, Cindy Lee Deuser program instructors.

The program was recognized for:

  • Enhancing student achievement and increasing student retention by providing a wide range of college readiness courses, activities, and services at the Academic Services Center (ASC).
  • Acknowledging the ASC as the only NADE accredited development program in the region and all faculty in the department as members of the NDACTSNE, with three serving on the Executive Board.
