All athletic teams at North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) will officially compete in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) beginning July 1, 2027. The MCAC General Assembly recently approved the Wildcats’ application for full conference membership.

The timing of the transition aligns with Mon-Dak Conference bylaws, which require a two-year notice or a $25,000 withdrawal fee for departing members.

NDSCS currently competes in the MCAC for Football and Women’s Soccer, and also faces MCAC opponents in Region XIII play for Baseball and Softball. The move will expand MCAC affiliation to include all Wildcat teams.

The MCAC includes nearly twenty member colleges and universities competing in seventeen sports and is part of Region XIII of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). NDSCS is currently a member of the Mon-Dak Conference, which—with the departure of Bismarck State College—includes only seven institutions competing in Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and six in Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball.

“This move to the MCAC is the result of considerable thought and planning,” said NDSCS Athletic Director Reggie Jackson. “As the Mon-Dak Conference evolved, and as our own goals and vision aligned more closely with the MCAC, it became clear that this was the right fit for NDSCS. We’ve already experienced the benefits of competing in the MCAC through Football and Women’s Soccer, including better scheduling, reduced travel costs, and strong competition. While we value our history as a founding Mon-Dak member, this change positions our programs for continued success.”
