North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) welcomes Travis Hoeg as their new Executive Director of Operations at their Fargo locations, a role he begins after a distinguished career in education and athletics with Fargo Public Schools.
A dedicated educator and coach, Hoeg was named Fargo Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2019. He spent most of his career in public education and, in recent years, led the Fargo North Spartans boys’ basketball team. Under his leadership, the team made four consecutive appearances at the North Dakota state tournament, including a Class A/Division AA state championship win in 2023.
Throughout his tenure, Hoeg was known for his commitment to students, his strong leadership on and off the court, and his deep appreciation for the Fargo community. His decision to join NDSCS reflects his desire for new challenges and professional growth after three decades in the classroom and on the court.
“From day one, the community at NDSCS has been welcoming and supportive. You can tell right away that students come first here, and that’s always been my focus too. It just feels like the right fit,” Hoeg said. “I’m excited to be a part of the important impact NDSCS is making for the state and the North Dakota workforce.”
"Travis has the kind of energy that moves things forward, especially when students are at the center of the work. With the Career Innovation Center opening in South Fargo this Fall and new programs rolling out at our 19th Ave. location, the timing couldn’t be better,” said NDSCS President, Dr. Rod Flanigan, Ph.D. “We’re glad he’s here.”
Hoeg commented on his vision for NDSCS in Fargo, saying “There’s a lot of exciting stuff happening at NDSCS, especially in Fargo,” said Hoeg. “The Career Innovation Center is going to be a game-changer when it opens in August. It’s not just a new building—it’s a big step forward for students and for North Dakota.”
Hoeg and his wife live in Fargo and have three adult children. He credits his family as a steady source of support throughout his career—and says they’ve been just as encouraging as he takes on this new chapter at NDSCS.
