Student Privacy Policy

NDSCS limits access to student data, including grades, transcripts, and other educational records, in compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974. FERPA was enacted to protect the privacy of educational records, to establish the right of students to inspect and review their education records, and to provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal and formal hearings.

Student data that can not be shared:

  • Financial aid
  • Medical records
  • Bookstore charges
  • Class schedule details (time/place)
  • Gender
  • Tuition bills
  • Race, ethnicity/nationality
  • Social Security number
  • Student identification number
  • Residential life information
  • Program information that is protected by other regulations, like HIPPA

This data may only be accessed by the student requesting the information. Students who wish to release certain information to their family must complete and submit the FERPA Release Form to NDSCS Enrollment Services.
