9-20-2017 - 9-20-2017
Time: 5:30PM - 7:00PM
Location: Hektner Student Center
The North Dakota State College of Science Constitution Day celebration will be held Sept 20th in the Plains Room of the Hektner Student Center. The program will be a discussion with Eric Schlosser titled And Justice for All. The discussion will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be live streamed from Grand Forks, School of Law.
Eric Schlosser’s next book, The Great Imprisonment (2018), will describe how the United States came to have the largest prison system in the history of humankind – and how that system affects every one of us. During this candid, sit-down interview with Martin Gottschalk, Associate Professor and Chair of UND’s Criminal Justice Department, Schlosser will discuss his current research, including how the three-fifths claus in the Constitution helped pave the way for the United States to become home to the almost twenty-five percent of the world’s modern-day prison population.
