My relationship with the North Dakota State College of Science started more than 35 years ago when I made the decision to attend NDSCS as a student. It was a great decision for me, and I know it can be a great decision for you, too. | |
| For more than 100 years, NDSCS has been the proud home of our next workforce in North Dakota and the Upper Midwest. Generations of men and women in the fields of construction, transportation, manufacturing, allied health care, business and agriculture started their careers on our campus, and this college is committed to continuing that tradition in a manner that reflects the 21st century. With that in mind, a cross-section of NDSCS leaders have identified five strategic goals for these next two years: | ||
| • Respond quickly and effectively to the needs of emerging and changing industries; • Effectively meet the needs of ever-increasing costs associated with an academic mix that focuses predominantly on career and technical education; • Effectively respond to the needs of an ever-changing, more diverse student body; • Develop and implement a college-wide comprehensive technology plan; and • Attract, develop and retain highly skilled and technically proficient faculty and employees. |
||
| The college’s mission statement, found in the next pages of this publication, calls on NDSCS to provide a “learner-focused education through a unique and evolving collegiate experience.” Our strategic goals recognize the “evolving” nature of the world around us. New industries demand new technical capabilities. Technology has changed teaching methods. And we need people who can share their knowledge and experience with tomorrow’s workforce. | ||
| If you are a prospective student, NDSCS provides you with choices - superior career and technical education options or a wide range of liberal arts transfer plans - all on one residential campus. Beyond the classroom, NDSCS offers a four-year college atmosphere - on-campus housing, a full range of student activities, more than 30 clubs and organizations, musical groups, theater productions, intercollegiate athletics and intramurals - all on our historic and beautiful 130-acre campus. | ||
| I came back to NDSCS in 1986, and I have seen NDSCS through the eyes of a student, a teacher, an administrator, a parent and now the college president. I encourage prospective students to check out NDSCS and to discover what I did many years ago: NDSCS is a special place. | ||
