Diversity Tuition Waiver Procedures
 
Recognizing the educational benefits of a culturally diverse student population, NDSCS administers a tuition waiver program. Cultural Diversity Waivers are intended to encourage enrollment of a culturally diverse student body for the benefit of all students and the academic community. (International students do not qualify for this program.)
 
Eligibility
Applicant must meet one of the following definitions for eligibility under this program:
A. Enrolled members of federally recognized American Indian Tribes, and Alaska Natives and Villages as defined pursuant to the Alaskan Native Claims Settlement Act. Special emphasis will be given to enrolled members of the Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe, Three Affiliated Tribes, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and transfers from North Dakota tribal colleges.
B. Members of a culturally diverse group, who are defined as historically under represented (African-American, Asian-American, or Hispanic) persons of different cultural, racial, or ethnic heritage.
C. Person who are defined as economically disadvantaged.
 
Academic Considerations
Waiver recipients must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 2.0. Recipients must be enrolled full-time.
 
Amount of Waivers/Duration
Waivers in the amount of $800 will be awarded for one academic year. Students must re-apply each year for consideration, with a limit of four semesters as a recipient.
 
How to Apply

Complete a Cultural Diversity Tuition Waiver Application with all verifications, personal statements, transcripts and any other pertinent information. Top consideration is given to those meeting the April 15 deadline. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application before March 15.
