Mission Statement

 

The mission of the North Dakota State College of Science Allied Dental Education Department is to offer curriculums that can provide quality graduates in both the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs.

The curriculum and program activities associated with the department will be directed at providing students with the knowledge, skills and professionalism necessary for entry into the professions of dental assisting and dental hygiene.

 
     

Program Goals

 
1. To prepare students for a career in dental hygiene by offering an associate of applied science degree in dental hygiene.

2. To provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to serve them in career and life.

3. To blend a solid dental hygiene clinical education with the basic science, behavioral, social and general education courses.

4. To provide graduates with entry level skills by satisfactorily meeting all program competencies and sub-competencies detailed in the dental hygiene program competencies document.

5. To coordinate seminars and workshops that provide continuing dental education to dental health care providers in the region.

6. To provide dental hygiene services to the community, especially to the under-served population in the region.

7. To provide dental education outreach services to the community.
