REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

If you have completed the Application for Admission process and have your User/Empl ID and Password, you may proceed to the CampusConnection registration system. Below are instructions.

The NDSCS online web page is designed to be a full-service stop for online students. Take time to become familiar with the site so you are aware of the services available and where to get more information. Some services include online application, registration, academic counseling, refund schedule, library services, bookstore, personal counseling, and financial aid.*

* Under Federal Title IV regulations, a specific number of credits must be taken to meet eligibility requirements for federal financial aid. The accelerated option of course work may not include the required number of credits to meet the criteria. For a complete list of financial aid and loan options, please visit our Financial Aid Web site.

HOW TO REGISTER and ADD/DROP CLASSES

Having Problems?

If you have problems with the registration process, you may go to the Registration FAQ site. Your problem may be explained there. If not, don't hesitate to contact Distance Education or Enrollment Services for help.

Finding Class Numbers for Registration System

If you are not sure of the class numbers you are taking, you may find the NDSCS Online Course Schedules on the online class site or you may search for them in the "CampusConnection" site by clicking the following links:

If you need help, you may contact the NDUS Helpdesk at 1-866-457-6387 (toll free in U.S.) or or contact Distance Education at 1-800-342-4325, ext 3-2347.

NOTE: If you do not have your college User ID and Password, you can also get them by going to the CampusConnection site and clicking "What is my User ID," then completing the information requested. Once you have your ID, click "Forgot My Password" and complete the information requested. The password will be sent to you via email.

Adding/Dropping Online Classes

Prior to dropping a class, students need to contact their program advisor as it may affect program completion. It may also affect your financial aid package so it is recommended you check with the Financial Aid Office if you have questions. If you do not know who your advisor is, contact the Dean's Office or Distance Education Office.

Refund Policy for Dropped Classes

During the first 0-8.99% of the semester students will get 100% refund for dropped classes. After this time, there will be no refund. (See current Refund Schedule)

NOTE: If you are dropping all your classes, you are actually "Withdrawing" from school which requires a different process and follows a different refund schedule. If you have not done any work in your classes, contact Enrollment Services at ext 32205 to cancel your enrollments. If you have started work in your classes, contact the Division Dean's Office to withdraw from school (Arts, Science and Business Division, ext 32295; Technologies and Services Division, ext 3-2257)

Dropping Classes after the 100% Refund Date

If you are on-campus, you should go to the Dean's Office and pick up a drop slip, obtain signatures from your instructor and program advisor and return the drop slip to the Dean's Office for processing. Distant students may either contact the Division Dean's office or log into PeopleSoft and drop the classes themselves.

Email is required for the online classroom. This is how students and instructors communicate. It is important that your email address is current and updated quickly if it changes. Updating your Email Address can be done through the CampusConnection system.

How to update your email address in PeopleSoft "CampusConnection"

After logging into the "CampusConnection" site, click

Be sure to update your email information in the online course system profile, too. After logging into the NDSCS Online class site, you click "My Profile" to update your information.

Get an NDSCS Email Account

It is recommended that students taking online classes get an NDSCS email account. Students with free Internet email accounts such as Hotmail that limit your mailbox size should consider purchasing additional space or getting an email account through their Internet Service Provider (ISP). Free accounts such as Hotmail often provide minimal email space and these mailboxes fill quickly which results in email being repeatedly returned to the sender as undeliverable. This causes students to miss important information from their instructor and from the college.

Collaborative Registration Information

Students from NDSCS who want to take a class from another ND University System campus as a collaborative student need to complete the Collaborative Application Form to initiate the process. If you have questions about the process, contact Barb Mund in Enrollment Services to assist with the collaborative registration process. (1-800-342-4325, ext 3-2204)

Online Class Login and Password for Class Access

Once your application for admission and registration are completed, an email will be sent to you with basic information, including your online Login and Password. This will be needed to access your classes. You will still continue to use the college User ID and Password for access to the "CampusConnection" system, i.e. to add and drop classes, to check your schedule, check your account balance, update your email/phone/mailing address, etc. The online login and password will only be used to access online classes.

Online Orientation Class for New Online Students

Students enrolling in their first NDSCS online class will be enrolled into a short online orientation course, SCS 101 Bits and Bytes for Online Success, to be completed before the semester begins. There is no charge for the orientation and no credits awarded. The orientation allows the student to test their computer for online classes and to do a variety of small assignments and submit them to the instructor using different methods to be sure the student is able to use the online tools. The class can be completed in about three hours which may be done over a week's time or in one sitting, depending upon the student's scheduling needs. An email will be sent to the student from the orientation instructor prior to the start of the class.

Accessing your Online Classes

To access your online classes, go to http://ndscsonline.org and enter your class Login ID and Password. The next page will list the courses you are registered for under the applicable semester header. Click the course title to enter the course home page. You will not be able to access the class content until the start of the semester.

Online classes are only available during the semester dates. When the semester is over, your course access will be discontinued. It is important to follow the assignment schedules set by your instructors to get your work done within the semester timeline.

It is recommended that students get instructor contact information (email and phone number.) If you have computer trouble, you can call your instructor so they are aware of your situation. If you can't reach them, contact the Distance Ed Office (1-800-342-4325, ext 3-2347) and we'll help get the message to the instructor. It is the student's responsibility to meet course deadilnes and keep current on assignments and coursework.

Past Due Accounts may be Denied Class Access

If you have a past due account from a previous term at NDSCS, you may be denied access to your classes. Please be sure to contact the Business Affairs Office (1-800-342-4325, ext 3-2200 or 3-2289) to arrange payment for past due accounts.

View Text in Larger Size

If you need to view the content of your class (or any web page) in a larger font size, click "View" on the Main Menu bar and click "Text size." Choose the size you need. This is helpful for any web page where font size is small and difficult to read.

Books/Software

Purchase books for online classes by contacting Coleen Thoe at the NDSCS bookstore at 1-800-342-4325 ext. 3-2239. Your books will be shipped directly to you. Microsoft Word is needed to submit assignments for online courses and some courses require additional software. Refer to the course listings on the web site for additional information about software and other requirements.

Exam Proctor

Online courses require a proctor for exams. You and your proctor will need to complete aform (which will be provided to you as a link in your online course)and return it to the online instructor. A generic copy of the form is available at the online web site under “Student Services.”

Good luck to you in your online learning experience! Don’t hesitate to contact the Distance Education Office if you have any questions.
