The NDUS has established a collaborative online program
for students needing an Associate in Arts degree. Students
may receive an associate degree from one of the NDUS institutions (NDSCS,
BSC, LRSC, MiSU-B, WSC, DSU) by taking courses from multiple campuses
during the same semester. The student's home campus would be the institution
from where they'd apply for financial aid and receive their degree upon
completion of the requirements from that institution. Students could take
classes from more than one campus during the same semester and receive
a single billing from their home institution. Courses taken at other colleges
would be transferred to the home campus as part of the degree requirements.
NDSCS graduation requirements for the AA degree are found
in the College Catalog and are summarized below:
- Minimum of 64 credits successfully completed with a
minimum GPA of 2.0 (C) or higher.
- At least 16 of the final 24 credits of the curriculum must be taken
from NDSCS
- Minimum General Education Requirements (GERTA requirements,
36 credits):
- 6 credits in ND:ENGL
- 3 credits in ND:COMM
- 6 credits in ND:HUM or ND:HIST (must have courses
from two prefixes)
- 13 credits in ND:MATH, ND:LABSC, ND:COMPSC or ND:SCI
- 8 credits in ND:SS (must have course from two prefixes)
- 2 credits in Wellness
- Remaining credits will emphasize arts, humanities
and social sciences
- Attendance at designated campus and/or community
activities that support the general education learning outcomes
In planning a program to meet these requirements, a student
upon advisor approval, may substitute general education courses in orer
to meet requirments of the institution to which the student plans to transfer.
Students will choose a home campus and take as many classes
as possible from that home campus. Classes needed for the degree that
are offered at other NDUS colleges will be taken as a collaborative student
with registration assistance from the Records Office.
Additional information regarding GERTA classes and graduation
requirements can be found in the NDSCS College Catalog.
