Paraeducation

The Paraeducation program provides an option for paraprofessionals and teacher aides to meet the personnel requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction certificate of completion requirements. Paraprofessionals and aides newly hired after Jan. 8, 2002, working in a program supported with Title I funds must have completed at least two years of study at a higher education institution, obtained an associate degree or higher, or met a rigorous standard of quality through a formal state assessment.

The Paraeducation Program is organized around core courses that emphasize math, reading and writing. Program elective courses allow an individual to select areas of knowledge applicable to his or her employment situation.

This is a Distance Education Program through the North Dakota University System Online. A collaboration of the North Dakota community colleges: Bismarck State College, Lake Region State College, Minot State University-Bottineau, North Dakota State College of Science, and Williston State College.
