NDSCS Volleyball Team claims the Mon-Dak Conference Title Posted on 10/23/2012
The NDSCS Volleyball team has again taken the Mon-Dak Conference Title for the eighthyear in a row, under Head Coach Jane Passa. After two solid wins on Friday and Saturday against Williston State College (WSC) and Dawson Community College (DCC) respectively, the Wildcats fasten themselves into the number one spot in the Mon-Dak Conference with a 9-1 conference record and a 27-7 overall record.
Taking momentum from their big 3-0 win against Bismarck State College at the Dig Pink match on Wednesday, the team traveled to Williston, N.D., on Friday to face the Tetons of WSC. The Cats won in four games against WSC (25-20, 25-22, 12-25, 25-23). The next day they traveled to Glendive, Mont. and DCC and crushed DCC in three games (25-9, 25-21, 25-14).
The Wildcat players that had great influence on both matches were sophomores Kaylee Pender with 20 kills and six blocks; Moriah Skroch with 20 kills, 21 digs and two blocks; Danielle Brewer with 70 assists, three blocks and three digs; Shellina Irwin with 37 digs; and Baylee Wilson with six kills, three blocks and five digs.
The Cats will host the Region XIII Tournament at the Clair T. Blikre Activities Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. NDSCS goes into the tournament as the No.1 seed and play at 5 p.m. On Friday against the winner of Williston State College (No. 4 seed) and Dakota College of Bottineau (No. 5 seed).
