Volleyball wins two back to back

Posted on 9/13/2012

The NDSCS Volleyball team played and won two games on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  The Cats took their first home game victory against the Jamestown College (JSC) JV Jimmies in four games: 25-21, 24-26, 25-13 and 25-23.  The following day NDSCS traveled to Devils Lake, N.D., to play the Lake Region State College (LRSC) Royals and defeated them in three: 25-14, 25-10 and 25-7.

Against JSC the Wildcats were led by Shellina Irwin with 29 digs and Katie Wangberg with 26 assists.  Bayle Wilson led in kills with 13 while Wangberg was right behind her with 12.

During the match against LRSC, the Cats had very even stats as a team.  Ashtin Wittenberg put in work for NDSCS with 14 digs, while Kaylee Pender had an impressive three aces on the match.

“We were more consistent as the match went on,” commented head coach Jane Passa.  “We served tough and took them out of their serve receive.  This was a great conference win on the road in under an hour.”

The Wildcat Volleyball team is now 7-4 and looks to keep the wins coming in their next match at the Ridgewater Tournament Friday, September 14.  The first match starts at 12 p.m.
