The Reading Lab provides students an opportunity to increase reading efficiency through the use of computer and/or instructional courses. Individualized lessons place emphasis on increasing vocabulary, reading rate, and comprehension skills.
Based on entry-level assessment results, students may be required to complete ASC 82 Effective Reading and/or ASC 84 Critical Reading, although these classes are open to any student who would like to become a more effective reader.

ASC 82 Effective Reading:
This course provides strategies to improve reading efficiency by building vocabulary and improving basic reading, writing and study skills.

ASC 84 Critical Reading:
This college reading course emphasizes improving reading comprehension, efficiency, and speed through practice of literal, critical, and inferential reading skills. Through instruction and practice, students learn the skills involved in critical thinking and reading processes. Upon recommendation of the instructor, this course may be repeated for additional credit.

For more information on classes, dates and time see ASC Schedules.
