NSFThe NDSCS STEM Scholars program, funded by a $600,000 National Science Foundation grant, provides financial assistance to students through a comprehensive scholarship program that includes three scholarship types and approximately 180 awards over five years.



Standard Scholarship
  • Financial assistance of up to $10,000 per year
  • Students must be fully accepted into the NDSCS STEM Scholars program
  • Up to 25 Standard Scholarships awarded each year
Opportunity and Incentive Scholarship
  • Designed to encourage students considering careers in a STEM field, but who do not meet all of the program entry requirements.
  • One semester award of $500
  • Students who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA while receiving the Opportunity and Incentive Scholarship become Standard Scholarship recipients.
  • Up to 15 scholarships awarded each year in years 2-5 of the program
Transfer Scholarship
  • Financial assistance of up to $1,000-5,000
  • Awarded to graduating students upon acceptance and entry into a STEM-related field at a university
  • Up to 7 scholarships awarded each year during years 3-5 of the program

  • CIS – Computer and Network Support
  • CIS – Web Developer
  • Land Surveying and Civil Engineering Technology
  • Mechatronics Technology
  • Microelectronics Technology
  • Nanoscience Technology
  • Precision Machining Technology
  • Liberal Arts - Engineering
  • Liberal Arts - Mathematics
  • Liberal Arts - Chemistry
  • Liberal Arts - Computer Science


Scholarship Application Deadlines
The STEM Scholars Program Leadership Team will begin to review applications for fall semester in April. Applications will be reviewed as they are received through the first week in September. Scholarships will be awarded as funds permit.

During the 2012-13 academic year, the STEM Scholars Program awarded nearly $100,000 to NDSCS students enrolled in STEM related programs.
