The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership and support for strategic planning, assessment of student learning and development, research, accreditation, and grants management. A comprehensive approach to institutional effectiveness provides NDSCS a process to align our mission and objectives with the outcomes of our programs and activities in a cycle of continuous improvement that informs planning, budgeting and assessment.
Accreditation:  NDSCS is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the AQIP (Academic Quality Improvement Program) process of accreditation. The College is committed to continuous improvement as a philosophy and management style. The Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness is the Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Higher Learning Commission providing oversight and direction for communication and reports with the Higher Learning Commission.
Assessment of Student Learning: NDSCS is committed to an open and transparent assessment process that values a life of learning. Assessment of student learning is based on clear, explicitly stated purposes that are multidimensional, integrated, and revealed in performance over time. It is an ongoing process that begins at enrollment and continues through employment in a comprehensive effort to understand and improve student learning. Assessment occurs at the course, program, and institutional level.
Research: NDSCS research, which includes data collection, survey distribution, and data dissemination, official reports including IPEDS and state accountability data are coordinated and distributed through the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. Requests for data and queries can be submitted using this form. The OIE subscribes to ethical principles and guidelines for the protection of privacy and confidentiality of human subjects. Please refer to the official Code of Ethics for Institutional Research professionals.
Strategic Planning: Strategic planning is a comprehensive process based on intensive data collection and analysis. It involves input and communication with stakeholders in determining future direction of the collection. Strategic goals and AQIP Action Projects are determined from the strategic planning process that sets future direction for the college for the next three to five years. It is a fully integrative process that guides assessment of student learning, budgeting, programming, and accreditation priorities.
Grants Management: The Office of Institutional Effectiveness manages the procurement, implementation, and management of grants and other alternative funding sources. It provides leadership in determining appropriate funding sources (grant research) and in the development of policies and practices for the management of successful grants and other funding sources. The Grants Director provides administrative fiscal oversight and evaluation in implementation of funded grants and filing required reports.
